HeadCleaner V37.2
Copyright Richard Waspe 1994
HeadCleaner is for cleaning your floppy disk drive heads :-)
It works by stepping the heads in across the cleaning surface of
the head cleaning disk, thus continually exposing the heads to
fresh uncontaminated cleaner, whilst greatly increasing the life of
your cleaning disk, by not continually using the same track.
HeadCleaner can be run from the CLI or WB, but requires at least
V37, 2.04+ of the Operating system. The Gadget driven interface is
fairly intuitive. No harm should come to any disks left in the
drives, and they will be re-read after HeadCleaner has run, but if
your data is precious, then remove them to be sure. When
HeadCleaners window opens, apply a small amount of cleaning fluid
to your head cleaning disk and insert into the drive to be cleaned.
Click on the Gadget for that drive. There are four Gadgets, one
each for DF0: DF1: DF2: and DF3: . The Gadgets will only be active
for those drives found to exist in your system. The others will be
'ghosted' out.
The drive light will come on, and as the cleaning disk spins, the
heads will step across it's surface for about 20 seconds. During
this time all Gadgets will be inactive, and progress of the
cleaning is shown by a bar in the lower part of the window. When
the cleaning is finished, the screen will flash, and the gadgets
will again be active. At this time you may continue to clean other
drives in the same manner. When you have finished, remove the
cleaning disk and click on the close gadget in the top left of the
window.
The user interface was designed with GadToolsBox By Jan v.d. Baard,
and the program compiled with SAS/C V6.3 on a WB3 A2000/030/33
